Duck hunt

The tenth race in the ongoing Nextel Cup Series is placed to happen about the 5th May this coming year with the Richmond International Speedway. This year s race will probably be referred to as the Crown Royal Presents the Jim Stewart 400 after the winner in the essay writing contest sponsored by the Crown Royal.

As drivers, engineers and racing personalities prepare to the race, Johnny Benson can be taking preparation as part of his sixth start this year. Recently, the veteran driver discussed his relationship with present employer Wyler Racing.

Johnny Benson was recently named by the team they are driving the no. 46 Toyota Camry with the next race with the season. Benson looked back on how he got the work. The Wyler's and (Crew Chief) Tony Furr asked about to accomplish some testing on their behalf in the end of last year and we thought that test went practically, says Benson. As this season got underway, we were holding referring to doing a bit of more testing and called to see if I would undertake it. I said, "Yeah, I'd be happy." I thought it could be pretty cool to assist them to test and just to enable them to out. I like doing that kind of stuff, he continued. After testing, the c's liked his performance which generated him being named as the team s starter. We went to Richmond earlier this year along with the test went well. I was hoping that if they ever went racing I'd get an opportunity to operate a vehicle. I exclaimed that they was lacking any obligation personally to drive it, but that I would love to have the chance. This past week they called and asserted we had been planning to race at Richmond and that I could drive, so I was pretty pumped up about it. It's a pretty cool deal, enthused Benson.

As far as his expectation for that upcoming race and his familiarity with the track, Benson seems to be ready for the race. I think overall Richmond has become a great track for me personally. I love racing there. I love the form of track it really is. I like what sort of racers approach that track knowing it's actually a two groove race track. Benson also described the love to the track in the recent statement. You can race anywhere you would like, he states. You don't have to beat and bang your path past somebody. It's just an incredible race track. And it's really a Saturday night race which can be great to the fans and you understand the whole atmosphere part of it really is good. It's a kind of track that I like. It's a challenging track however it is and a finesse style race track. I think that falls inside my suit. I've had a great deal of great races there and a few we've run really well which don't possess the finishes to prove that based off being caught up in something. But it's a place that I love and like to race at.

The next race will be held in relatively shorter tracks than other speedways. For Benson, this truth is viewed as a bonus. I like racing on all from the tracks that individuals go too. They all have their unique challenges. But I think since several racers - because we was raised on short tracks - we always enjoy racing on them, says Benson. We do this many intermediate tracks seeing that the short tracks really are a little more few and far between; maybe not a great deal inside Truck Series, but inside Cup Series. So I think we all enjoy returning to college and running the short track races.

While Benson has received good races in Richmond and that he admitted how the track is to his liking, how he performs in the actual race is obvious in how he's tested his Camry in the speedway. To his credit, Benson looks set to possess a good race after he has completed his test with the track without any sign of problems in any way. I think the communication that I had with Tony Furr on the test in Richmond was excellent, he was quoted saying. We unloaded to the ensure that you were decent right off in the truck, he added. He also credited his team to the way the test has gone. As the day took, I was pretty in awe of Tony and all sorts of the fellows that really work at Wyler Racing. I was impressed when I dealt with them at the Homestead test last year then, needless to say, at Richmond too. They all work nicely together and communicate well. Our speeds were good so we were satisfied with our qualifying efforts and our speeds in race trim.

While testing good is often a positive boost for your team, Benson knows the actual race is going to be a different area. It will probably be a different deal returning for that race, but I hope we are able to keep up with the form of run that individuals had in the test, Benson said. The opportunity sitting in front of us is really a good possibility to hopefully go there and run well, he concluded.

With Benson s driving experience, his familiarity with the track and his awesome admission the next track they will be racing on would be to his liking, there is really a positive chance which he will have a great race come May 5. Aside from that, he's got a Toyota Camry they are driving which can be engineered to offer more boost than standard a Toyota Camry furnished with a Toyota cold air intake system.
